Agency:Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications ・ Latest:301245(2026-07)・MoM +3.56% ・ YoY -1.46% ・ Yen (per household per month)

Consumption expenditures in the Family Income and Expenditure Survey, published monthly by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, show how much two-or-more-person households spend in a month (yen per household). The total covers food, housing, utilities, transport, education, recreation and more, and directly reflects household consumption. This page uses the nominal original series without seasonal adjustment, so it includes seasonal movements such as year-end spending; the year-on-year change removes those seasonal effects. Note that the series adopted as lagging series Lg4 in the Cabinet Office’s Indexes of Business Conditions is the consumption expenditure of workers’ households.
